Big Mac

A mysterious box arrived in our apartment yesterday. The contents of the box made it possible to bring you this daft little film, (14.5mb). If you click on the link and just see a big blue Q and nothing seems to be happening, don’t worry. The movie just takes a while to download.

Technically, I think Courtney’s parents are the executive producers for the movie, as they provided the editing station. Thanks, in-laws!

There are a couple of Final Cut Express bugs caused by the graphics card in the iMac being different from previous macs which should be resolved within the week. Consequently this movie was edited on iMovie, which is somewhat limited. I can imagine it being a great tool for teaching kids video editing, though.

    Nice, but nothing happened here.

The keyboards bother me. It’s like they’ve forgotten to finish them. That said, biscuit crumbs just slide out, which is an obvious advantage.

Does the film contain any of the following: monkeys, pirates, ninjas, robots, or titties?

Are the grains ‘n’ scratches a standard feature of yon editing suite, or did you put all that stuff together yourself?

I reckon you should send this to Apple. I can see them using this as a “look how fast and easy it is to set up” video. Seriously. Send it to them.

    Specs, specs?

Now that you have some heavy-duty firepower, perhaps you would like to donate some of it into finding which parts of England will be underwater in fifty years?

Dammit, I always mess up links; I need to learn to do them properly.

K: If I’d taken the time to shoot it better I might. As it was, I was far too excited by the prospect of the new computer. Yes, the grains & scratches are provided by a default filter, but I also sped up the footage to make it look overcranked and removed chunks to emulate skipped frames.

R: In 50 years England will be the new Atlantis and I will be perched on a small island which used to be a mountain in New Zealand. The specs?
    2.1 GHz G5, 1.5Gb RAM, 250 Gb HD, 20″ screen, ATI Radeon X600 XT with 128Mb VRAM.

In fifty years, you’ll be drinking your own re-processed urine.

Those are some nice specs… does it have the juice to play Tetris?
